GalleryUK announce availability of version 2.6 of the popular audio transfer application CDStudio. CDStudio has won excellent reviews around the world for its effective approach to the problem of capturing audio from Compact Discs.
CDStudio 2.6 is PPC Native and now also supports Non-SCSI Apple
CDRom and DVDRom drives such as those found in the NEW G3 Macs,
iMacs and Powerbooks. CDStudio 2.6 also offers on-the-fly Sample
rate conversion and bit-depth conversion, which allows you to
write a 8, 16 or 24-bit, 22.05, 44.1 or 48kHz file directly to the hard disc - essential for Post Production.
CDStudio eliminates the need for professional quality audio hardware
by using an Apple CDRom drive to read audio directly from the
Audio CD into a Macintosh soundfile. This 100% digital transfer
technique benefits from several key advantages over traditional
methods. In particular, CDStudio performs audio transfers at faster
than real time, offering up to TWELVE times normal speed transfers.
This allows users to grab an HOUR of audio in about five minutes
!
The user interface, described as 'Zen like' by Keyboard Magazine,
offers very clear and simple controls to mark audio selections
whilst listening to the CD. Selections may be auditioned through
the CDRom player's analogue outputs, or indeed through the Macintosh
itself.
In addition, CDStudio allows full access to often overlooked CD
Index markers, essential to users of Sound Effects CDs. Finally,
CDStudio allows the user to choose from a range of Soundfiles
formats and qualities before capturing the audio. The entire operation
is fast, simple and elegant.
