QuickTime 6

VoicePro may work with earlier versions of QuickTime, however it has not been tested with, and versions earlier than QuickTime 6 are not supported by Gallery.

Mac OS 9.1 or Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later.

VoicePro X may work with older versions of Mac OS9 and OSX, but these are not tested, or supported by Gallery.

USB Port

The USB port is required for the dongle. For best results, use a built-in USB port, although USB ports from PCI expansion cards will also generally work well.

Sound Input Manager Compatible audio hardware

VoicePro X uses the Sound Input manager, either directly, in OS9, or via Carbon's core audio emulation of the Sound Input Manager in OSX. It can only use the functionality supported by the SoundInput driver for your audio hardware. If there is no driver for your hardware, or the driver is not reliable, then you will not be able to use that device with VoicePro X. In particular, recent Digidesign Pro Tools hardware is NOT supported in OS9, since Digidesign do not provide a Sound Input driver. In OSX, Digidesign have a CoreAudio driver for their hardware, which is in theory supposed to be compatible. However, it is Digidesign's responsibility to ensure compatibility, so refer to their documentation for specific support.
In general, Apple's own device drivers tend to be the most reliable, so Gallery recommend using standard USB audio devices which use Apple's built in drivers, for best reliability. This goes for OSX and OS9.

If you experience problems with your audio input, try using 'Apple built-in' audio hardware (if available) as a test. Contact the manufacturer of your audio hardware for audio input support. Gallery are not able to provide tech support for 3rd party audio input hardware.
