| Planning your Workflow
Should I be using MetaFlow ? A typical example workflow might entail the recording of 4 or more audio tracks on the set, using MetaCorder to create 4 mono broadcast wave files. One of these files might be an overall mix track, with the other 3 being discreet mics. Most video editors would want to cut against the mix track only, and so typically, only this single file would be imported into Avid and synced against the picture, but in audio post, the editor will be expected to recut everything with all the tracks. This is where the combination of MetaCorder and MetaFlow yields massive productivity benefits. After exporting the sequence as OMF, with the single mono cut track, and ingesting all the source media into MetaFlow, this system will automatically recut the Pro Tools session to incorporate ALL FOUR tracks with the same edits on each track, and with the appropriate channel ID to show which mix is which. You can even use a similar MetaFlow workflow to recut 24-bit audio against a 16-bit cut sequence in Avid. MetaFlow also allows easy search and delivery of alternate TAKES, not used in the video edit, but which the audio editor will want to evaluate. MetaFlow even offers a sophisticated Magless Dailies workflow. Contact Gallery for a workflow consultation, and visit http://www.metaflow.info for more information. ©2004 Gallery |
