TOUR DE FRANCE - PICTUREREADY 'LIVE' WORKFLOW

Molinare and VTV have been using a revolutionary PictureReady! based infrastructure for highlights editorial for ITV's coverage of the Tour De France. Peter Wiggins & James Venner joined forces with UK Dealer Root 6 and Molinare to design and install the system which includes the largest XSan in Soho, The system is used to capture 3 live satellite feeds with timecode for 8 hours per day directly into QuickTime DVCPro50 using PictureReady! These files are immediately available on the XSan for FCP or VirtualVTR/9100 editorial - less than 5 seconds after capture begins, without stopping the recording. As the day proceeds, the QuickTime movies automatically grow dynamically inside the FCP browser. Finished packages are reloaded to the server as rendered or reference movies, and can then be played to air directly from the XSan using VirtualVTR. A Smaller version of the same system was used by Studio-71 for the German TV highlights, operating out of an OB vehicle following the race. More on PictureReady!
