Who supports iXML ?

iXML is the result of extended discussions between the various manufacturers of Field recorders, and editing systems. It is designed to standardise the exchange of metadata between these systems.

The iXML concept was born during a meeting of various vendors, including those listed below, hosted by the Institute of Broadcast Sound, in London, on the 8th July 2004. The "i" in iXML recognises the part the IBS played in bringing together such a diverse blend of normally competitive manufacturers to collectively solve the increasingly difficult problem of metadata interchange, with an elegant, capable and completely public specification.

Note that this list was compiled some time ago and may not be a current reflection of wider support.

iXML Implementation Chart

Each iXML compatible product should be supplied with an iXML Implementation chart, which details the iXML functions written and read by that device. The chart which is a standardised format, allows systems integrators to easily determine the workflow compatibility between different iXML devices.
